They use the same cables but put a different LNB in the dish.
If you currently have multirooom you need to have requested a Hybrid LNB if you want to use other boxes as freesat receivers..
Can I still use my Sky box if I cancel sky?
If you cancel your Sky subscription then you can keep the box as you own a Sky+ box and it will continue to receive the free channels but you will be unable to record them or watch any recordings back you might have made.
Will I lose my recordings if I upgrade to Sky Q?
Unless it’s Buy & Keep, you won’t be able to transfer any recordings on your Sky+ box to your Sky Q box. Some shows might be available on Catch Up TV, Sky Box Sets and on demand movies, but we’d advise you watch any recordings you’d like to see before your Sky Q install date.
